Its really sad that Fedor has become the toe-hold for all these other organizations.
What they all fail to realize is that their actions make them look like a bunch of johnny-come-lately's. Wamma and M-1 talk about trying to further the sport globally and internationally, yet the UFC has done more for the sport internationally than both put together. If you look at Wamma's mission statement up there, the UFC has done all those things, except co-promote.
Co-promotion won't be a reasonable idea until you have not one, but several organizations like the UFC with several top level fighters, and we aren't there yet. As I said in an earlier post, there just isn't enough cross-promotion fights that people want to see...or at least there isn't enough to go to all the effort of trying to find and promote them.
And organizations like Affliction and Strikeforce, simply want market share, and not to necessarily further the sport. When you put has-beens and no names against top guys, rather than have your top guys fight each other (like Fedor-Overeem), you de-value the sport. And having a HW champ like Overeem not defend his belt for 2 years only to then fight against somebody coming off a loss, and not even for the belt is obsurd and it makes you look like a joke.
I'd bet my childrens college fund that if and when Fedor joins the UFC, he will put several comapnies and organizations out of business. You could almost look at his reluctancy to sign as a hold out, like NFL players do.....he'll try to see what he's worth, hold out until is sorely needed, and then sign....only problem with that is....the UFC has and always will run successfully without him.....and everyone else too.

Is WAMMA for real? So Fedor gets a belt for beating Tim Sylvia? And what belt did Sylvia hold? NO BELT! He lost it in the UFC. "One belt one champ"? Really? Has Fedor beaten Lesnar while I was on vacation? Did I miss something?

WAMMA is good for MMA, actually the best thing that has happened to the sport for a long time. Good for the fighters and good for the fans. Kudos to David Szady and company. The fighters understand this, why don't you?

bye bye wamma. you all suck. I'm so glad that you all wasted so much money on something so pointless. The only legit belt is the ufc belt. nothing else.

Now with Affliction back in the UFC camp, WAMMA has only two choices, head over to Japan where no one really cares since the downfall of Pride, or get into bed with Strikeforce. Then we might see the crowning of Nick Diaz, Overeem, or Cung Lee as new WAMMA champs.
For shame....

The WAMMA Belt would be better suited being called the Fedor Belt cause seriously, Fedor is the only WAMMA champ anyone gives a hoot about and when he signs with the UFC (cause eventually he will) Fedor will just pull his money out of M1, goldenboy will jump ship, donald trump will be off and Affliction will be back selling T-Shirts.

Lets call it like it is. The sport didn't get divided until people with "business savy" saw what the UFC was doing and thought they could cash in on the wave.
This whole "one belt, one king" thing revolves around Fedor. If he was in the UFC right now, WAMMA and Aflliction would be out of business because while there are many talented fighters outside the UFC, there just aren't that many super cross promotion fights beyond a possible Fedor vs Lesnar/Couture fight....maybe Anderson Silva vs. Cung Le but thats about it.
And while were on the subject of Fedor, theres only 5 guys on the top 10 that aren't in the UFC, 2 of which he has beaten (Sylvia and Arlovski) and since he isn't fighting Barnett at Affliction 3, does Affliction really think they have a big headliner with Fedor vs Overeem or Verdum?

It's very divided. Boxing was created and then promoters followed. In MMA, promoters started the sport and then other promoters made it worldwide. Let's co-promote and feel alright now!
